17,000 bio-toilets in trains

Ministry of Railways, Government of India, took to social media network Twitter today to highlight some of its Rail Budget points that would be taken under Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat programme.

In a graphic uploaded by the ministry, it highlighted that 17,000 bio-toilets in trains and additional toilets at 475 stations will be provided before the close of this financial year for the convenience of train-takers. Besides, it is alsogenerating more than 65,000 additional berths, installing 2,500 water vending machines; introducing ‘Mahamana Express’ with modern refurbished coaches.

It also has underlined that the Indian Railways has developed world’s first Bi-Vacuum toilet which is being used in Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. Under Make in India programme, it is proposed to increase the procurement of train sets by 30 per cent.
